Civil Court Cases (RCMS) in Madhya Pradesh

This guide is still being prepared and has not been reviewed. It shows only the parts we can state with confidence. Check the official portal before relying on it.

RCMS (rcms.mp.gov.in) is Madhya Pradesh's Revenue Case Management System for cases before revenue courts such as the Tehsildar, SDO and Collector: mutation (namantaran), partition, demarcation and related appeals. Civil suits in district courts are not on RCMS; check them on eCourts, and see civil cases tagged to a parcel on WebGIS 2.0.

Definition

RCMS: A web-based system of the MP Revenue Department, used in all revenue courts (about 1,500) since 1 October 2016, for applications, cause lists, case status and order copies.

When you need it

Before buying land, to check for pending mutation, partition, demarcation or eviction cases on the parcel; after buying, to track your own mutation case.

Steps

  1. Open rcms.mp.gov.in/citizen.
  2. Search a case under Case Details, or use Application Status with your application number.
  3. Check the public cause list for hearing dates.
  4. Download the order under Order Download once the case is decided.
  5. For civil suits, search the district court on services.ecourts.gov.in; for cases linked to a parcel, use the civil court case option on WebGIS 2.0.

What you need to search

  • District and revenue court
  • Case number or application number
  • Party name, or village and khasra details

How to read it

A case record shows the court, the case type (for example namantaran or bantwara), the parties, the next hearing and the status. When a case is decided, the order can be downloaded and is sent online to update the land record.

Red flags

  • A pending namantaran or bantwara case on the land you are buying
  • A demarcation (seemankan) dispute with neighbours
  • An eviction or encroachment case on the parcel
  • An appeal pending against an earlier mutation order
  • A seller who does not mention a case in which they are a party

Questions

Does RCMS cover civil court cases?
No. RCMS covers revenue courts. Civil suits are on the eCourts service, and WebGIS 2.0 shows civil court cases linked to land parcels.
Can I apply for mutation online?
Yes. RCMS takes applications for namantaran, bantwara, seemankan and other matters, directly or through Lok Seva Kendra, MP Online or CSC centres.
How do I get an order copy?
Download it from RCMS after the order is passed, or get a copy through a Lok Seva Kendra.
Is there a mobile app?
Yes. The mRCMS app shows case details and hearing dates, and RCMS cases can also be checked on the UMANG and MP Mobile apps.
Is there a time limit for a decision?
If the case is covered by the Lok Seva Guarantee Act, the court must decide it within the notified time. RCMS says such cases are monitored by senior officers.
